I don't know how I found it; I was just poking around the net while having lunch at work and suddenly there it was ... Payard Patisserie & Bistro in Caesars Palace.
This is what the hotel website has to say:
Payard Pâtisserie & Bistro by François Payard takes an effervescent and whimsical, yet upscale approach to the classic neighborhood pastry shop found throughout Paris' Left Bank. Rich and vibrant colors dominate the space as hand-crafted woodwork, crystal, blown glass and leather banquettes complete the restaurant’s elegant feel.
Within the Pâtisserie are three unique areas for guests to experience. A specialty goods station where freshly prepared chocolates, candies, pastries and breads are arranged in glass display cases. Coffee/liquor/panini bar serving breakfast, lunch, dinner; and late-night offerings are served to guests on the go. Guests can enjoy more traditional table service in the restaurant’s dining room that is centered by an open-air kitchen.
It was their menu options that really grabbed my attention, especially the Dessert Prix-Fixe menu. A dessert tasting menu? For the late evening? How could we possibly not eat here???
Check out the current dessert tasting menu - to the best of my knowledge each guest chooses one selection from each section of the dessert menu. My toes are curling just thinking about it.

Isn't that the most orgasmic dessert menu you've ever seen? But, does anything seem out of place to you in that last section? One of these things is not like the others ...
I think I just gained five pounds looking at those menu choices. I'm off to walk the dreadmill for a while. The important question: What would you choose???
Edited to share my choices with you ... just in case you were curious.
1) I have no choice but to pick the Assorted Cheeses with Fruit Compound Cake. I hope that fruit compound cake isn't a French-ism for fruit cake. Because if it is I may have to hurl it across the bistro screaming at the top of my lungs, "THE POWER OF CHEESE COMPELLS YOU!!!"
2) Tough call, but I think I may have to go with Tiramisu My Way. I'm pretty sure Jay is gonna pick the coffee eclair option, so this way we get the two most appetizing choices in this group.
3) Another tough pick, but if I were ordering right now I'd pick the Red Wine Tart w/Sangria-Prune ice cream. I'm not sure about that prunie addition to the ice cream, but I'm going to be daring because this is the alcoholic dessert of choice!
4) The Devil's Food Cake option all the way ... yum!!!

These desserts look heavenly! How will you ever choose just one from each section? Well, I guess that's why you have Jay, right?
When I first showed Jay the menu he said, "I only get four?"
To which I replied that as long as we both selected different items we could share 8 different desserts.
And then he said, "Only eight?"
Everything soumds heavenly! I'm still trying to figure out the "one of these things is not like the other" comment...
Leannwoo - thanks for reading and welcome to the madness. My reviews are as long and drawn out as Jay's are short and to the point.
The "one of these things is not like the others" comment is a Sesame Street reference.
And ... because I clicked when I didn't mean to ..
when I typed that Sesame Street line in the dessert menu section I was poking fun at the fact that in the chocolat section of the menu they include a banana dessert wrapped in phyllo ... with no mention of chocolate!!!
It just seems like it's completely out of place (and I don't really like banans anyway).
Oh, incredible! *drooling along with you*
The olive thing listed first sounds devine, but I think I remember you saying you didn't like olives? So, if that is the case, I'd skip it! :)
I will rely on your detailed trip report to plan out my future voyage to Vegas. Oh, did you think about Aoerales(SP) in Mandalay Bay? They have the biggest wine selection around, I've heard. In fact, they have people that use bungi cord type thingies to retrieve the wine.
Oh, and if Jay is into that stuff, there are boobs on the wall there. LOL. My dad made a point of taking me there on our trip a few years ago just to see the busts of busts.
Hey Michelle! I could not eat that olive thing for dessert no matter what kind of cheese they stuffed it with.
Just say no to olives!
I have looked into Aurole - I think we're going to pass it up this time since we booked a table at Alize and that will cost a few bucks.
And do you know a man who doesn't like boobs? ;-)
"when I typed that Sesame Street line in the dessert menu section I was poking fun at the fact that in the chocolate section of the menu they include a banana dessert wrapped in phyllo ... with no mention of chocolate!!! "
ahhhhh, I knew it was Sesame Street, but I missed the banana desert, or I just assumed it had chocolate around it or something! lol! Thanks! :)
And thanks for the welcome! I'm loving the food and pictures! I will be living vicariously through you both! :)
thanks..i think my sugar just spiked reading that menu!
the only thing around me that comes close to that is a restaurant called finale' that specializes in all things dessert..but they certainly don't have a 4 course dessert offering! how flippen fun!
A dessert tasting menu, I think I died and went to heaven!
I can't wait for you to review this place.
Hi there gmarie! Isn't that menu incredible? I'm calling out there today to find out if we need to have a reservation to do this. I'm getting all droolie just thinking about it.
Deb! Thanks for stopping by - I can't wait to review this either! I think it will be a blast. And I'm sure it will taste good, too. ;-)
