We have all but one dining reservation nailed down for our trip. Here's a recap of our entire itinerary, including some places we don't have reservations. My dear friends, you can look forward to reviews of everything in bold.
Sunday, April 20th - The Burger Bar (Mandalay Bay)
Red Square (Mandalay Bay - reservations made)
Monday, April 21st - Isla Mexican Kitchen (Treasure Island - reservations made)
Payard Patisserie Dessert Tasting (Caesar's Palace - reservations made)
Tuesday, April 22nd - Alize' (The Palms - reservations made)
Wednesday, April 23rd - L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon (MGM Grand - reservations made)
Thursday, April 24th - Undecided between Aquaknox (The Venetian) and Emeril's Delmonico Steakhouse (The Venetian)
Also ... we will be going to Quark's at the Star Trek Experience (it's a geek-fest!) and we will be eating at The House of Blues, probably for breakfast one morning.
That's it for now ... I'm just so excited to have gotten the dessert tasting and the Robuchon reservations that I had to come out and share the joy!
Squeeeeeeeeee!
Edited to add ... I got a really sweet deal from Ann Taylor today on a dress I've been eyeballing for a while. Although I haven't lost more than 3 pounds since the beginning of the year, I've taken two inches off my waist and an inch off my chest - everything else is holding steady. So ... I splurged on a new dress for the trip (there are many events taking place between the end of March and the end of June that will require some additions to my closet ... woohoo!).
The dress is silk, which I'm a sucker for; and I think it will be really cute for spring and summer. Lemme see if I can get the picture to show up ... please keep in mind that I will never look anything like this model.
Pretty...

I cannot wait to hear more.
Delmonico is GREAT. If you go, make sure to try the truffled potato chips. They were the best part of the meal for my wife and me.
I can't wait to get there! Thanks for popping in Heather. :-)
jknepfle, you are the fourth person to say great things about Delmonico. On the one hand we want to try it because it's Emeril and we've always had great experiences at his establishments, but on the other hand we kind of want to try something totally new.
Decisions, decisions ...
Brenda,
Lovely dress.
How did you manage to loose 3 lbs and
inches in the winter? No fair!
Tell us about your upcoming events.
We love to live vicariously through you!
Deb
Hey Deb!
We bought a dreadmill for Christmas and I've been trying to get at least one mile per day ... although I have my days when I slack off totally. A friend of mine also gave me a balance ball workout which is a yoga / pilates mix and I do that sometimes too.
I think what's really helped is that I've been cutting waaaay back on the junkfood (I haven't eaten at McDonalds in more than 2 weeks ... which is huge for me!).
Lessee ... upcoming events include three weddings, a 70th birthday party, another 70th birthday party, and a special trip to Florida over the summer thanks to Jay's employer. Woot!
Hey Brenda -
Your Vegas plans look like so much fun. Thomas and I used to make it out to Vegas about every 18 months or so, but sadly it was before I really got into food food, so our menu was limited to In-N-Out burgers and Wolfgang Pucks. Boo hoo. Looking forward to reading your reviews of these places.
Viva Las Vegas!
Oh, and Congrats on the loss in inches... Remember if you're building muscle it burns more calories than fat and weighs more!!
Hmmm...
Joel Robuchon...
I wonder where you got THAT idea! ;-)
I can't wait to hear all about it!!!
When you were looking at the MGM restaurants, did you notice Tom Colicchio's (judge on Top Chef) place called Craftsteak? We almost went there but ended up back at the Bellagio and went to Michael Mina.
Your plans sound perfect, Brenda! You and Jay are going to have an awesome time!!!
BTW - Love the dress!
That is such a "Brenda dress" for sure. The only difference between you and that model: She has two legs. :P
Your Vegas choices sound yummy!
Although I couldn't help thinking, when you get to Vegas, I'll be at Disneyland. I'd say we're both pretty lucky. :)
Ms. Heimlich - I know exactly what you mean about Vegas and prior eating habits. Our last couple of trips out there were:
a) with my parents
b) during a time when I was far less adventurous in regard to food
c) and, a time when we had less disposable income.
One reason ... no, wait ... two reasons I'm so looking forward to this trip is the possibility of incredible food now that I appreciate it more and the fact that we're not going with my parents!!!
Insert laughing icon here ...
Thanks for the reminder on the weight / inches - I always forget about the difference on the scale which is why Jay always reminds me to take measurements.
Hey Michelle! You, me, and a couple of other folks on the DIS all mentioned Joel Robuchon. We can't afford the uber-tasting menu at his super-pricey place so since we're now getting a nice income tax refund (thank you TurboTax!) we decided to splurge a bit on L'Atelier. It looks a little more informal and we think it will be a lot of fun!
Shame on me but I didn't pay any attention to the other MGM restaurants. ;-)
The dress showed up last night - it's really cute!
Hey Lori! I guess I am pretty predictable when it comes to my dress selections, aren't I? I'm beginning to wonder if I'm too boring?
It showed up last night and if I do say so myself it looks really cute - even after I spent hours in my car and at my desk. I'm thinking of giving it a trial run in April when we take my parents out to dinner at the only 4-star restaurant in town.
And you in Disneyland next month ... I think that if Jay and I ever do make it there it needs to be during their F&W thingie. Our future plans will be hanging on your reviews and opinions!
I hope you have a great time and look forward to hearing all about it!
Oh so much pressure! But I don't need any excuse to go to Disneyland. I think it rocks. The variety of food and snacks is actually better than WDW.
Bengal BBQ has high quality Food On a Stick (of many kinds). Highly portable pre-fireworks food. Yummy. I don't know how their food and wine festival will be, but I'm sure I can find decent nosh.
I'm sure you look better than the model! You have such a cute little figure! :)
We will be overlapping in Vegas for one day...I will keep my eyes open for you and Jay! lol! But then again, I know where you are eating...I could stalk you. hehehe! I think I have way to many fun things to do than to wait for you to show up at a restaurant! :)
Have a blast! I know I will!
I can't wait to hear more. I am on vacation that week too and your report will help me get over my post vacation blahs.
Hi Brenda! I'm quite excited to read about your delicious adventures in Las Vegas, and L'Atelier in particular! I've been trying to convince the hubby that we need to do Vegas for the food alone (he's quite turned off by casinos) so I'm sure your fabulous reviews will be able to sway him :)
BTW, you may know me by my other alias, HKinDC ;)
Lori, your comments about DL are duly noted. But I'm still not convinced they have more to eat or better food than WDW. You will need to convince me before I can try to get Jay out to the West Coast.
Leannwoo ... how are you? I bet you get people doing that dumb rhyming thing all the time, don't you? ;-)
Thanks for the nice comment about the dress ... I'm not sure that my figure is anything like that skinny model chick's, but I've been trying to be less flabby these days so we'll see what happens.
You should let us know when you arrive - maybe we could meet up for a drink?
Hope you have a great trip too!!
Smallworld... where are you headed on your vacation? Share some details with us if you can!
Heidi! Thanks for coming by! :-)
I'll do everything I can to write fabulous food reviews and take glorious photographs to help convince your hubby that Vegas is a great place to visit even if you don't like to gamble (and we don't).
I'm really looking forward to your Vegas reviews, as it's one of my favorite places. Burger Bar is wonderful, but the best burger I've EVER had anywhere is at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill in Caeser's Palace. Have a great time!
